Stephanie opens NewSong FM 5th Anniversary Party

SAINT JOHN, NB November 29, 2005 Stephanie performed The Maritime Song to open the NewSong FM 5th Anniversary & Christmas Party at Kings Valley Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, November 29th.  She was supported by a group of musicians and dancers including John Cudmore (acoustic guitar); Cynthia Cudmore (keyboard/accordion); Carolyn Murray (backing vocals/percussion); Tim Davidson (bass); Micah Peterson (drums), Scott Manning (bodhran) and the dancers led by Shiloh Peterson (Jill Rogers, Emily Fox, Katie Peterson, Lydia Mainville, Lauren Cudmore and Marie-Helene Marmen).

There was a great turn-out of about 800 people who came to help NewSong FM celebrate 5 years of broadcasting Christian music and inspirational programming in Saint John .  Station Manager, Don Mabee made an exciting announcement about an upcoming boost in the stations coverage which will soon extend the radio station's signal to the Greater Saint John area.

Pat Boone joined the celebration via telephone to extend his congratulations to the station and to introduce the New Brunswick premier of the Pat Boon & Friends musical tribute to Billy Graham: "Thank You Billy Graham". This loving All-Star tribute features a host of celebrity guest including:  Bono (Spoken Intro), Larry King (Spoken Passage), Kenny Rogers, Michael McDonald, Leann Rimes, Jeffrey Osborne, Andre Crouch, DC Talk, Marty Stuart And Others.

Other opening performances came from Fredericton singer BJ Meckelvie, Elizabeth McGuigan and Jill Breen.  Thanks to corporate sponsors, NewSong FM was able to give away over $5000 worth of prize packages at the event.

World Vision artist, Russ Lee, the former lead singer from the band NewSong, was the featured performer. The  acclaimed singer/songwriter has sung on more than 10 #1 hit singles over the years-including songs recorded during tenures with two of Christian music’s best-loved groups, NewSong and Truth.  Russ’ distinct, soulful voice is instantly recognizable on Christian radio stations everywhere.  He performed many of his hits, including “Live What I Believe” and “I Smile,” from his 2000 solo debut as well as songs from his new Christmas album.

It was a wonderful night of fun, music and prizes, celebrating NewSong FM's 5 years of Christian radio broadcasting in Saint John.
