Stephanie Mainville, of Rothesay, is the runner up at this year's Canadian Radio Star, the 16th annual national songwriting competition.

The winners were picked by popular vote combined with the decisions by a panel of judges chosen by Songwriters Association of Canada. Mainville's song Wait finished behind this year's winner: Tonight, I Love You, by B.C. band The Latency.

The announcement was made during Canadian Music Week in Toronto at the Library Bar, Fairmont Royal York Hotel. All of the regional finalists had an opportunity to perform at the Canadian Radio Star showcase - a grand finale which included performances by host Andy Kim.

Regional finalists were picked by participating radio stations and public on-line voting based on the creativity, originality, composition, lyrics, melody and radio airplay potential of their songs.

Mainville was the New Brunswick regional winner, selected by C98.9 Big John FM in Saint John.
